For all of you who are excited about the next LG Smartphone, The LG G5 is finally here. LG unveiled the G5 at a press event at MWC 2016 in Spain. The LG G5 has a Modular design and it has dual cameras that grabs the attention of the user. The G5 also has a lot of improvements in the UI and LG has also included an always on display in the LG G5.
The LG G5 has a 5.3″ LCD with an always-on mode. It features a dedicated memory and a power-sipping secondary chip so that the main chipset can go to sleep while the screen remains on 24/7. The bespoke chip sips just 0.8% of battery per hour. In addition, the LG G5’s display offers Daylight Mode for improved outdoor visibility. Automatically detecting light conditions and adjusting itself accordingly, the display can reach a maximum brightness of 850 nits.
The G5 is powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, Adreno 530 GPU and it has 4GB of Ram. It has 32GB UFS storage on board and a microSD slot. The LG G5 also has a 2800 mAh battery.
One of the biggest changes to the LG G5 is the metal body. It doesn’t have any antenna lines on the body to look bad, instead it has a single seam, which separates the bottom part.
The separate bottom part is the modular component which gives the user access to the battery and which allows the user to have separate add-ons. Even though it requires a reboot to make use of the modularity by changing component, the device works flawlessly. I can’t wait to see what third-party manufacturers would do when LG opens this up.
The LG G5 has dual cameras at the back too. One Camera is 16MP and the other is 8MP. The 16MP camera has 75° Field of View and the 8MP camera is much wider giving it 135° Field of View. Images from both cameras can be merged with various effects and a real-time preview.
The LG G5 has a USB Type C port at the bottom, and the Snapdragon 820 supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology, improving charging speed by 27% and efficiency by 45%.
The LG G5 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with LG’s own G UI on top, with a lot of changes, first of which is the elimination of the App Drawer. All the apps are placed on the home screen, and the UI doesn’t seem to be having the Multi Window feature as well. LG has tried to simply the UI as much as possible.
