Yota? Sounds like something out of Star Wars,But it isnt,It’s a phone made by the Russian company Yota, It was announced one year ago and now its finally on sale. Its available in Russia and certain parts of of Europe.
The e-ink display isn’t exactly trying to impress any one with a resolution of 640×360 pixels. The point here is to enhance the user experience and improve battery life by diplaying notifications and images from the LCD screen.Being able to read ebooks and notifications on the e-ink display is a highly useful feature.
The specs are somewhat average, It sports a 1.7 Ghz dual-core krait CPU with 2GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. But they’ve managed to squeeze in a 13MP shooter, with 1080p video recording capabilities. There’s a 1MP front facing camera as well . There’s even LTE support as well and runs Android 4.2.2.All this is powered by a decent 1800 mAh battery.
Yota has some 500,000 initial units available across its launch markets, which include Russia, Germany, France, Austria, and Spain. The device is expected to then become available in the UK, Greece, Czech Republic, and Cyprus in January, There are no plans for a US release as yet. That’ll be based on the success of its sales in Europe.
