Simplicity is a must for some people. LG had thought to follow those guidelines when building their 2014 flagship, the LG G3. With the Motto, “Simple is the New Smart” The G3 was launched in an event in London, and we had a Live Stream available as well. If you missed the event, don’t worry, I’m here to tell you about what happened, and what we are going to get. So here’s all you need to know about the LG G3.

The LG G3 features a 5.5″ True HD-IPS+ LCD display with a QHD, 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. This gives us a pixel density of 534 pixels per inch and it must be looking superb. Inside the phone, there’s a Snapdragon 801 SoC with a 2.5GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor and Adreno 330 GPU.
The 16GB G3 will have 2GB of Ram, where as the 32GB version will have 3GB of Ram and Both versions will pack microSD card slots supporting up to 128GB. The G3 also has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC and an IR blaster when talking about connectivity.
On the design side, LG is claiming that the new arc design and metallic finish make the G3 easier to hold, even with the increased screen size. It even looks compact and can be compared to a 5″ HTC One (M8) and it will still be a close call size wise. LG also continues the trend set by the LG G2 with rear mounted volume controls and Power/Lock buttons and has refined them a bit. They look good, but the removal of the LED Notification light degrades the design in my opinion. The G3 is also not scratch proof like the G flex, nor is it Waterproof, which is unfortunate. The G3 has a 1W speaker at the back of the G3, which is similar to the one found in the LG G Pro 2. However this time LG has also enabled a boost mode, which brings its power to 1.5W.
The battery of the LG G3 is 3,000mAh and is user-removable which means you can carry around multiple batteries and still easily switch. There’s optional wireless charging support that comes with a different back panel and it is said to be working flawless by LG.
Next up is the camera, and the G3 has a 13MP sensor with OIS. Next to it is a dual-LED flash, while on the left LG has fitted a special laser that measures distance and speeds up autofocus. This is supposed to make the G3 the fastest focusing smartphone camera currently available. When talking about Video the G3 has up to 4K Video recording and it also has 720p slow motion video recording capabilities. LG has also put more effort in to the 2MP front-facing camera, which sports bigger pixels and a brighter lens than the main one. It also promises the perfect viewing angle angle for selfies, which LG says is 77 degrees.
Talking about the Software of the G3, the UI has got a refresh and it is just what we saw in the previous leaks.This new UI seems to be flattened and we see that LG has implemented a few specific abilities. Those include things like LG’s Smart Keyboard that goes beyond learning your typing habits to offer handy customization, like an adjustable on-screen height. You can also change the cursor placement by swiping along the space-bar. LG tackles the so-hot-right-now virtual assistant field with its Smart Notice service, which places an emphasis on using natural-sounding language as it delivers its reminders. The G3 also a better version of Knock On, called Knock Code, which helps you unlock you device by tapping on your screen to the pattern you select. It really looked awesome.
Talking about accessories, We already got to see the QuickCircle case launch a few days ago officially, And with support for wireless charging, we’re also going to get an official G3 Qi charger for an extra cost.
LG says that its worldwide G3 roll-out begins tomorrow, May 28, in South Korea and it will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Gold Shine at first. We are not sure when it will reach countries like Sri Lanka, India and even the U.S, but we certainly hope that they can launch it as soon as possible to get better sales.
What LG have built this time around is a prominent phone. If the battery life is good and if the UI is smooth, people will definitely consider this to be more main stream.
