LG’s first wearable device, the G Watch, will be available in July for around $220. The device is one of many set to launch later this year that utilize Google’s Android Wear platform. The smartwatch LG demoed to PocketLint was a non-functional prototype unit, but it still gives us a look at the final design of the watch. Unlike the Moto 360, which features a circular watchface, the G Watch will come with a squarish design, similar to that of the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.
LG also stated that users would be able to use their own bands with the G Watch, and that a version of the watch with a round watchface will likely debut sometime later. In addition to LG, Samsung, Asus, HTC, Motorola and Fossil will be rolling out their own wearable devices shortly.
As for the G Watch, there isn’t any information as to the hardware the device will be packing, but more details should be revealed as we get closer to the official announcement. The price of the G Watch at $220 is great news considering that it looks much better than the Gear 2, which is set to launch this Friday for $299. It is feasible that Motorola’s Moto 360 will also be available for a similar amount.
