Last week at the Special Google Event, they announced that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be released this week, and as promised the factory images have been released to the public.
Factory Images are available for the Motorola Nexus 6, LG Nexus 5, Asus Nexus 7 (2013), HTC Nexus 9, and Asus Nexus Player. Click here to download the Factory Images.
Older Nexus devices are not going to get official updates to Marshmallow, while the newly announced LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P will launch with it pre-installed.
The Over the air Updates have also started rolling out, so you will see the update pop up soon. By any chance if you don’t see it, you can always manually flash the update by following the instructions here.
For those of you who are curious, the build of the Final release is MRA58K.
Marshmallow was first released to the public back at Google I/O as Android M and I even made a video showcasing the new features of the Android M Developer Preview.
The key aspects which Android M will target are based over user’s Web Experience, different App Permissions, App Links and much more. For more info on what’s new with Android M, check out my other article where I go over all the new features here.
So if you have a Nexus, then what are you waiting for? Go and update your Nexus to the latest version of Android and enjoy it. Share with your friends who have a Nexus device as well.
