Apple had a Special event to unveil new devices and I even did a Live Blog of it; If you missed it you can check it out here. At the event the first thing Apple unveiled was the much rumored and previously leaked, iPad Pro. Just like the name suggests Apple is trying to release a more productive Tablet for the masses and in a bigger size.
The new iPad Pro is packing a big 12.9″ display with 2732 x 2048 pixels resolution, which keeps the same pixel density as the iPad Air 2 – 264ppi. The new display is capable of variable fresh rate, which should improve the battery life.
The iPad Pro’s display is big, but it’s just 6.9mm thin and weighs 712g, which is decent for the size.
The iPad Pro is powered by a brand new A9x chip, which according to Apple offers twice the memory bandwidth of the A8x (within the iPad Air 2), twice the flash storage speed, 1.8x better overall performance and twice the GPU processing power. We are not sure about the amount of Ram on the iPad Pro right now, but I’m pretty sure it will pack 2GB of Ram. It even has the Touch ID Fingerprint scanner.
The iPad Pro rocks a 8MP iSight Camera at the back.
Apple iPad Pro comes with four speaker system, which support automatic balance depending on how you tilt the slate.
Apple promised a 10 hour battery life for the iPad Pro.
The iPad Pro comes with 2 new accessories from Apple. First is the Apple Pencil which is a Stylus. Next is a Smart Keyboard.
The Apple Pencil is an active stylus specifically designed for the iPad Pro. You can draw various diagrams and stuff on most of the system apps – they have been already updated to support it. Since the Apple Pencil is an active stylus, it comes with a lightning port and you’ll have to recharge it on a regular basis.
The other is the Smart Keyboard, which is basically Apple’s take on the Surface Type cover. The Smart Keyboard is an external keyboard, which is magnetically attached via the new magnetic smart connector. It offers a full-blown keyboard and thus you’ll have the entire screen estate for your apps.
Apple iPad Pro runs on iOS 9 by default and it supports picture-in-picture and spilt screen view.
Apple iPad Pro will become available in November in Silver, Space Gray and Gold. The available storage options are 32GB ($799) and 128GB ($949). The LTE model comes with 128GB only and costs $1079.
The Smart Keyboard will set you back $169, while the Apple Pencil is priced at $99.
