Remember the Samsung Gear Live? It was One of the First Android Wear Smartwatches to come out. It maybe tiny but it seems to hold some power. Remember Windows 95? Windows 95 is almost 20 years old and a Developer has posted a video showing a Samsung Gear Live, Running Windows 95. Say What?
The Samsung Gear Live sports a 1.6″ 320 x 320 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, a 300mAh battery, and Bluetooth 4.0.
Checkout the Video posted by Corbin Davenport that shows Windows 95 running on a Samsung Gear Live Smartwatch.
How is this possible you ask? Well according to Corbin Davenport, Since the Gear Live runs Android Wear which is based on Android, it is possible to run aDosBox, which is used to emulate an x86 processor and provide DOS like OS, which you can use to install Windows 95 or an earlier version of Microsoft’s Operating Systems. aDosBox is available on the Google Play Store for Free. He has also made a video showing Doom running on the Gear Live, check that out below.
It might not make sense to run a 20 year old Operating System and some old games on a 1.6″ Device that straps to your wrist, but it is really good to know that you can. This shows how far technology has gone, and I’m damn Impressed!
What do you think about running Windows 95 or any of your old games on your Smartwatch? Let me know, in the comments section down below.
