Windows Phone 8.1 is the next version of Microsoft’s Mobile Operating System. It was announced back in April and it was released as a Developer Preview for Developers. Sometime back we reported that the Final Public Update might start rolling out at the end of June, but it didn’t happen exactly but now it looks like Nokia has started pushing out the Cyan Update for Lumia Devices.
The first smartphone to get the upgrade is the Nokia Lumia 625, which is a change of pattern for the manufacturer – traditionally it was high-end smartphones that got the updates first. But we are sure the Other devices will also start getting the update soon.
It appears that the update is rolling out in stages and right now selected users in Taiwan, Spain and Finland are getting it as a part of some sort of pilot program. If they don’t face any issues with the new firmware then we can expect the global roll-out.
Nokia Cyan extends the experience of Windows Phone 8.1 with Creative Studio app, Bluetooth 4.0 LE support and ingrained display controls. There are even more updates, but those are hardware specific and won’t work on all devices.
