The HTC M8 the successor of to the HTC One, has leaked numerous times before. We heard lots of rumors throughout the last couple of months and Today we have the first live picture of the HTC M8, not just the panel. It shows its back, where we can clearly see the twin cameras and the dual-LED flash. This means the next One won’t pack a fingerprint sensor, or at least it won’t be one on its back.
So, summarizing all the rumors to date, the HTC M8 should pack a 5″ 1080p display, run on Snapdragon 800 chipset (or 805), and sport twin UltraPixel cameras of unknown (but probably higher than 4MP) resolution. The official announcement event will probably happen very soon.
The logical time for HTC to announce a new flagship would be at or around this year’s Mobile World Congress, taking place in Barcelona on Feb. 24 – 27. HTC One was announced one weekprior to the MWC 2013. However, a Bloomberg report from January, which also mentions a twin-sensor rear camera, pegged the release for March.
We don’t know much about HTC’s plans for the MWC, but we do know that Samsung, LG and Nokia all have something to show this year. Samsung is the most likely to actually launch their flagship phone, the Galaxy S5 during its Unpacked 5 event, held Feb 24.
