The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 was launched at CES Yesterday. Let’s take a close look at it.
Features
What if I say that the Huawei’s latest Ascend Mate can charge your iPhone. Pretty awesome huh? It’s called reverse charging and it could juice up all your gadgets with no hesitation with it’s 4050 mAh battery. The device was introduces at the CES in Las Vegas where it gained much attention because of it’s latest feature.
This device it undoubtedly giving some challenge to the Phablet king, the Note 3.the company announced on Monday that it will soon release the Ascend Mate 2, a sequel to the similarly massive Ascend Mate phablet that it first unleashed upon the world last year.
The device has 3G/4G LTE connectivity, Floating Window functionality,Bluetooth, WiFi and other basic features.
Design
Like its predecessor, the Ascend Mate 2 features a 6.1-inch display and it is slightly slimmer than the original device at 9.5 millimeters thick and has a much improved 13-megapixel camera. However we do not like the design of this phone very much. It doesn’t fell premium, it is hard for one handed operation
Camera
The primary camera of the device has a 13 megapixel image sensor, which should be quite handy when taking sharp photographs. That’s not whats really interesting. The Ascend Mate 2 offers a 5 megapixel front facing camera which is capable of taking amazing selfies
Performance
The device packs a Snapdragon 400 Chipset which is rather disappointing because all the high end phones are currently being powered by the Snapdragon 800 processor. The company made an account on this decision saying it was done to reduce power consumption.
Operating System
The device comes with Android v4.3 Jelly Bean Preinstalled with company’s Emotion UI on top of it. We do like the company’s new UI which consist of features such as Floating Window which gives user to multitask.
Screen
The IPS LCD panel of the device has a restitution of 720 x 1280 pixels which makes a PPI of 241 which is quite satisfactory for it’s price.
Final Thoughts
The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is a great device. It’s everlasting battery life is definitely a plus point for this device while the reverse charging concept adds another plus point. The overall camera quality of the device is up to the standard of it’s class. The Mate 2 is a nice upgrade for those of who are expecting a long battery life and a large display. There’s no word on the pricing yet.The device will hit the shelves of the U.S in a couple of weeks.
