This week, Samsung will be rolling out an update to the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch in the states. Among the changes, the timepiece will now receive full notifications from third party apps. Instead of just receiving an icon to alert you to a message from Twitter, Gmail, Facebook and Hangouts, you will be able to read the complete notification on the watch.
The update also improves basic features of the Galaxy Gear Smart Relay function, which allows Galaxy Gear users to open tasks on their smartphone using the watch. While Samsung has not made any claims about the update improving battery life, European Galaxy Gear users who have received it say that the update does indeed extend battery life on the timepiece. And the lift and pause gesture that activates the watch is improved following the update.
