Sony launched it’s PlayStation 4 last week and stated Record Sales by selling over 1 Million Consoles in less than 24 Hours. Microsoft has now stated that even they have sold over 1 Million consoles in less than 24 hours. Microsoft’s Xbox site states,
“Following a worldwide celebration, Xbox One launched in 13 markets on Nov. 22 to great fanfare. The team is excited to confirm the launch of Xbox One was the biggest launch in Xbox history, with more than one million consoles sold through worldwide in less than 24 hours – surpassing day one Xbox 360 sales and setting a new record for Microsoft. “
Microsoft also states that,
Over 60 million zombies have been killed in “Dead Rising 3”
Over 3.6 million miles driven in “Forza Motorsport 5″
Over 7.1 million combos in “Killer Instinct”
Over 8.5 million enemies defeated in “Ryse: Son of Rome”
It remains to be see if the two consoles can maintain their sales momentum from this point on-wards. Naturally, the sales in the first couple of months will be dominated by the fans of the consoles, who’d have bought them even if they had launched without any games. But later, it will be your average consumers who will be purchasing them and for them features and a good library of games is what will matter before making a purchase rather than the logo on the box. Both consoles have launched with a rather disappointing collection of launch titles. Hopefully, developers will pick up the slack and release some good games in the coming months that will decide the future of these consoles.
We will have to wait and see who will have the most potential with the games and sales this decade with the Console Wars as Microsoft still haven’t Launched the Xbox One in Most Countries due to Incompatibility, but has stated they will launch it Next Year.
